Day 10 - UWCSEA

Before I start, I would just like to say that this blog probably won't be half as interesting as my South Africa one. This is because in South Africa we were visiting lots of different communities, doing work in the community and doing loads of amazing things out there. Out here in Singapore, we seem to have the same schedule week in, week out, where we work for 6 days, and have 1 day off. We only really have one session a day, too, so this blog is going to be pretty samey and boring throughout I'm afraid, as there isn't really many different things to comment about. But I said I'd blog and I am not letting you folks down, don't worry!

Today we had our first of 3 sessions this week at UWCSEA. Again, Dan and I were both split up and assigned to help different coaches. I was helping out coach Fook with his under 14's, while Dan helped out coach Norm with his under 10's. With Fook, we focused on passing, and playing 1-2's. His session was crazy complicated, but we both managed to coach it across to the under 14's, and they did really well to be fair. Out here it seems that we help the coaches coach their session, instead of making up our own sessions and coaching them, which is a bit annoying as we both wanted to coach our own sessions, instead of helping someone else coach, but it's all part of the experience, plus we gt to experience other styles of coaching, which can only help our coaching abilities, too.

While I was helping coach Fook out with his passing exercise, Dan was helping Norm with his under 10's, focusing on attacking movement, and playing the ball out of defence, instead of lumping it out. Again, Dan was mainly helping Norm out with his session, instead of creating his own and coaching it. I guess with a soccer school they're pretty reluctant to give over sessions to coaches they've never seen or worked with before. Especially out here, where winning seems to be considered essential to all soccer school teams.

After our session, we headed to the local shopping mall to grab a Subway, and headed home. Got both Dulwich and UWCSEA tomorrow, so it's going to be a bit more of a busier day, which'll be good.
